Marija: Baby Jesus spoke with authority

(Source: Medjugorje Today)

Hearing the Infant Jesus give Christmas message instead of Mary was a great surprise to visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti. Afterwards she cried a lot, but also felt a great gratitude. “He spoke with great authority” and “I am trying to understand what I saw” Marija tells in radio interview.

“Jesus addressed me as the King of Peace. It was a child but these words were spoken with authority. With a voice that remained strong within me” Medjugorje visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti tells of her surprising Christmas Day encounter with the Infant Jesus

Authority exuded from the Child Jesus when Medjugorje visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti heard the Child give her a message on December 25, instead of His Mother. His voice remained strong within Marija when she composed herself in tears after the apparition was over.

The experience was completely unexpected for Marija who says she has seen the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus in her arms every Christmas Day for 31 years, but never heard Jesus speak before. When she talked to Radio Maria soon after the apparition, she still struggled to understand what she had seen.

“Today is really a special day because Our Lady gave no message. I describe it like this” Marija opened the radio interview.

“The Madonna came with the Child Jesus in her arms. She gave no message. But the Child Jesus began to speak and said, “I am your peace, live My Commandments.” The Madonna and Baby Jesus blessed us together with the Sign of the Cross.”

“Jesus addressed me as the King of Peace. He was a child but these words were spoken with authority. With a voice that remained strong within me. I heard the voice of Jesus as a child. It was not the voice of a child of a few hours. I do not know how to say this. A Jesus who is small, newborn, who addresses us” Marija said.

“I was very strongly affected, Father Livio. I cried a lot. I did so another two or three times before, but this time greatly moved me. I am trying to understand what I saw.”

“We were all surprised. He caused a strong emotion. After the apparition I started to cry, I am usually happy. Also this time I am still happier. It is an extraordinary thing. It moves me that Jesus has blessed us and spoken words for the first time. Because it is the first time Jesus spoke to me” Marija told Radio Maria.

maria2-“I would not expect anything like this. I could expect Our Lady would tell me she would not appear to me anymore or something else, I do not know. For 31 years Our Lady has appeared every year on Christmas Day with Jesus in her arms. But this was the first time Jesus spoke.”

“By the time it seemed to me that the apparition was something usual, ordinary, but something extraordinary also happened today. In my heart I feel a great gratitude” the visionary said.

The experience had Marija recount the first Christmas when she was having apparitions. In 1981, the Infant Jesus made a gesture, but spoke no words to the seers:

“The only other time that something extraordinary happened (like this) was when the Child Jesus blinked. And now the second time when He spoke” Marija said.

Seer had a good time at Vatican Commission

By Jacob Marschner

Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti“I had a wonderful meeting” visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti says of the day when she gave her testimony to the Vatican Commission on Medjugorje. “The Church will tell if we are healthy or sick” Marija says – by a time when the seers’ perfect health has long been established.

Some members of the Vatican Commission provoked me a bit, but it is their job to do, visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti says about her meeting with the Vatican Commission. Photo: Daniel Miot,

Medjugorje visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti has fond memories of her meeting with the Vatican Commission investigating the events of Medjugorje.

medjugorje-youth-festival-mladifest“My experience was very positive. I had a wonderful meeting. There were people who provoked me a bit. It is their job to do that. What I witnessed in my life, I stand behind that. I say when I see her. This is the truth, and to this I have testified for 31 years” Marija tells the Croatian daily Vecernji List about the meeting in late October 2011.

“And my life changed. Those who do not believe – it is their problem. God will give us strength, and tomorrow the Church will say ‘they are sick’ or ‘they are healthy, and they have opted for sanctity in their life and answered Our Lady’s call” the visionary adds.

Marija places a high hope in the participants in the Youth Festival in Medjugorje.

Marija further describes this time as special for the youth of the world, a topic coming up in the light of the Youth Festival that gathered about 40,000 young people in Medjugorje on August 1-6:

“The Holy Spirit works on the young in a special way. These are the days of the youth, to give them strength. It is a life experience. I urge young people to come to Medjugorje in the first days of August” she says.

“It is a great thing when you have personal experience.. This is an incentive for young people to live better and deeper with God.”

Asked by Vecernji List, the visionary declines to talk about the prophetic secrets all the six Medjugorje visionaries say the Virgin Mary has entrusted to them.

“We visionaries like to say the secrets are secret. When the time comes, we will talk about them” Marija says.

Vatican watched as seer got message

Marija Pavlovic-LunettiThe Vatican Commission on Medjugorje has been present while visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti received the Virgin Mary’s monthly message to the world. The purpose was to verify that the message is indeed being received as Marija has described it, a well-informed photographer tells.

Medjugorje visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti has had prominent spectators in her chapel, to watch an apparition when the Virgin Mary gave her a message.

The Vatican Commission on Medjugorje was present to make sure if Marija receives the messages in the way she says she does, the Italian photographer Daniel Miot tells from a recent pilgrimage that brought him, too, into Marija’s chapel for an apparition.

“I recently learned that the Vatican Commission investigating the events of Medjugorje has been present for an apparition to Marija, in her chapel on the 25th. As is well known, on this day of the month Marija receives the message to be disseminated to the world, and the Commission wanted to make sure she was right in saying she writes down the message in her own hand” Daniel Miot reports on his blog, Guarda Con Me.

Interview of Cardinal Schönborn of Vienna

In May 2011, Christoph Cardinal Schönborn was interviewed on Radio “Mir” Medjugorje and spoke warmly about his private visit to Medjugorje during Christmas and New Year 2009/10.

The Cardinal stated that his decision to go to Medjugorje came about as a result of visiting the “mother house” of the Cenacolo Community in Saluzzo, Italy, for its annual “Festival of Life” in the summer of 2009. He said he was aware of the deep connection between Medjugorje and the Cenacolo Community and how the Community has spread to the entire world and gives active and visible witness to the power of the resurrection of the Lord. He said he also wanted to use his time in Medjugorje for silence and meditation.

When asked what he particularly remembered about his pilgrimage the cardinal said he remembered in a special way the celebration of the Eucharist at the midnight vigil Mass (New Year’s Eve) with many thousands of pilgrims present. He also remembered with gratitude his meeting with the Franciscan priests and, as a Dominican, he felt a strong association with the Franciscans.

Climbing the two hills in Medjugorje was another special memory of the cardinal. He revealed that he ascended Cross Mountain with Sr Elvira, founder of the Cenacolo Community, and it had been a special and strong experience.

Cardinal Schönborn said the memories of his meetings with four of the visionaries, Marija, Mirjana, Ivanka and Vicka are carved deep in his heart and he is full of gratitude for the outstanding hospitality in their homes.

The cardinal also revealed he spent time on pilgrimage as a priest hearing confessions and added that the “secret” of Medjugorje, like Lourdes, is the close proximity of Our Lady, and is reason why pilgrims come.

He said his first encounter with Medjugorje was in the early 80’s through a prayer group based in a Vienna church and he observed how people were living and praying in a special way for hours every week, praying the Rosary with their heart, coming before the Blessed Sacrament, and celebrating the Eucharist. He saw the group’s willingness and commitment as a sign that speaks of truth. Cardinal Schönborn then spoke of the many prayer groups formed in Austria through Medjugorje, how the people in the groups have deepened their faith and Christian life, infused with the Eucharist, and give witness and testimonies of healings. He added that 12 years ago the Church acknowledged and recommended “Oase des Friendens”, an association that monitors and supports Medjugorje prayer groups in Austria.

The cardinal was asked if he could say anything about the “fruits” in his country and responded that the “fruits” were baskets of Medjugorje fruits. He mentioned there were strong priestly vocations stemming from the Medjugorje fruits, many conversions, families strengthened in faith, recovery from addictions…

Cardinal Schönborn then discussed the Medjugorje messages and thanked God that they were not “original”. He said that if they were sensational all would have surely disappeared because it is impossible for each week, each month, every year, to give sensational messages. On a personal basis he regarded the messages as simple and almost like an alphabet for living as a Christian: a continuing call to prayer, to conversion, to reconciliation and to peace, acknowledged by Our Lady’s words “Thank you for responding to my call”.

The cardinal said millions of people around the world read the messages and recognise the call of the Mother of God in their lives because of the messages; they are reminded every month to pray, to reconcile and to love the Virgin Mary. He added that through this “school” Mary invites us to follow Jesus, to look at her Son, to listen to him, to imitate him, and that “Do whatever he tells you” were Mary’s first words to the people. He stressed that “Do whatever he tells you” is the core of the Medjugorje messages.

Cardinal Schönborn was then asked if he could give a special message to the parishioners of Medjugorje and the people of BiH and Croatia. He responded by saying how striking it was that at the beginning (of the apparitions) Our Lady’s messages were directed to the people of the parish and it seemed that if Heaven was preparing Medjugorje for something special then its residents must be involved. He said it would be difficult for the peace of Medjugorje to spread if the residents did not live this peace and that this “education” by Our Lady was truly wonderful for the parish, to become a “tool” for the Queen of Peace.

The cardinal then mentioned there would be a Prayer Meeting for Peace in the Vienna this coming Novemember, the fourth time such a gathering will take place in the Cathedral, and confirmed that some of the Medjugorje visionaries will participate and he has approved the meeting. He said the Cathedral can be regarded as the heart of Austria and this great movement of prayer within the country that has brought many blessings must have a place in the Cathedral, and gratitude should be expressed that this encounter can take place there.

Cardinal Schönborn concluded the interview by expressing his thanks to all engaged in this type of work. He thanked the Medjugorje parish, the Franciscans in Medjugorje, and said that all are in his heart and prayers with great joy and gratitude.
