Praying the Rosary

prayer-in-st-james-churchEvery evening at 6 p.m. (summer schedule) or 5 p.m. (winter schedule) pilgrims pray the Rosary and other prayers for one hour before Mass begins. This provides enough time to pray 10 decades (Joyful and Sorrowful mysteries), with the Glorious mysteries being prayed after Mass.

There is a short break at 6:40 p.m., when the Blessed Mother appears to one or more visionaries. During this time, everyone kneels in prayer, and silence is observed.

Following the Rosary, the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary is sung, followed by a prayer to the Holy Spirit.
