Hearing the Infant Jesus give Christmas message instead of Mary was a great surprise to visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti. Afterwards she cried a lot, but also felt a great gratitude. “He spoke with great authority” and “I am trying to understand what I saw” Marija tells in radio interview.

Authority exuded from the Child Jesus when Medjugorje visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti heard the Child give her a message on December 25, instead of His Mother. His voice remained strong within Marija when she composed herself in tears after the apparition was over.
The experience was completely unexpected for Marija who says she has seen the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus in her arms every Christmas Day for 31 years, but never heard Jesus speak before. When she talked to Radio Maria soon after the apparition, she still struggled to understand what she had seen.
“Today is really a special day because Our Lady gave no message. I describe it like this” Marija opened the radio interview.
“The Madonna came with the Child Jesus in her arms. She gave no message. But the Child Jesus began to speak and said, “I am your peace, live My Commandments.” The Madonna and Baby Jesus blessed us together with the Sign of the Cross.”
“Jesus addressed me as the King of Peace. He was a child but these words were spoken with authority. With a voice that remained strong within me. I heard the voice of Jesus as a child. It was not the voice of a child of a few hours. I do not know how to say this. A Jesus who is small, newborn, who addresses us” Marija said.

“I was very strongly affected, Father Livio. I cried a lot. I did so another two or three times before, but this time greatly moved me. I am trying to understand what I saw.”
“We were all surprised. He caused a strong emotion. After the apparition I started to cry, I am usually happy. Also this time I am still happier. It is an extraordinary thing. It moves me that Jesus has blessed us and spoken words for the first time. Because it is the first time Jesus spoke to me” Marija told Radio Maria.
“I would not expect anything like this. I could expect Our Lady would tell me she would not appear to me anymore or something else, I do not know. For 31 years Our Lady has appeared every year on Christmas Day with Jesus in her arms. But this was the first time Jesus spoke.”
“By the time it seemed to me that the apparition was something usual, ordinary, but something extraordinary also happened today. In my heart I feel a great gratitude” the visionary said.
The experience had Marija recount the first Christmas when she was having apparitions. In 1981, the Infant Jesus made a gesture, but spoke no words to the seers:
“The only other time that something extraordinary happened (like this) was when the Child Jesus blinked. And now the second time when He spoke” Marija said.

March 18, 1999 Annual apparition to Mirjana
“Dear children, I want you to surrender your hearts to me so that I may take you on the way which leads to the light and to eternal life. I do not want your hearts to wander in today’s darkness. I will help you. I will be with you on this way of discovery of the love and the mercy of God. As a mother, I ask you to permit me to do this. The apparition lasted for 6 minutes from 10:14 to 10:20 am. Our Lady spoke about the secrets. She blessed everyone.

In a special way, little children, I call you to pray for conversion of sinners, for those who pierce my heart and the heart of my Son Jesus with the sword of hatred and daily blasphemies. Let us pray, little children, for all those who do not desire to come to know the love of God, even though they are in the Church. June 25, 1999 Annual apparition to Ivanka
Ivanka had the apparition which lasted 7 – 8 minutes in her own family home. Present for the apparition were only Ivanka’s family, husband and three children.
After the apparition Ivanka said that during the apparition she prayed for the parish and families and she recommended all in her prayer. Our Lady gave the following message:
“Dear children, thank my Son for all the graces that he has given you. Pray for peace, pray for peace, pray for peace!” (Ivanka 06/25/1999)

December 25, 1999 Annual apparition to Jakov
The apparition began at 3.00 pm and lasted 10 minutes. Our Lady came joyful and in a golden dress with the baby Jesus in her arms. She spoke about the secrets and blessed everyone. She gave a message:
“Dear children, today on the birthday of my Son, when my heart is filled with immeasurable joy and love, I invite you to a complete openness and to a complete abandonment to God. Throw all darkness out of your heart and allow God’s light and God’s love to enter into your heart and to dwell there forever. Be carriers of God’s light and love to all mankind, so that all in you and through you may feel and experience true light and love which only God can give you. I bless you with my motherly blessing.” (Jakov 112/25/1999)
Fra Marinko Šakota is the new parish priest of Medjugorje following the death of Fra Petar Vlašić on November 8th 2012.
The 44 year-old Franciscan was born in nearby Čitluk and ordained in July 1996. He has served as a chaplain in Medjugorje since 2010.
His appointment was proposed by Franciscan Provincial Fra Ivan Sesar and confirmed by Bishop Ratko Perić who also presided over the funeral of Fra Petar.
Fra Marinko speaks Croatian, German and English.

The apparition lasted between four and five minutes. Our Lady spoke to her about the secrets, blessed all those present, and gave the following message:

June 25, 1998 Annual apparition to Ivanka
Ivanka had the apparition in her home and it lasted six minutes. After the apparition, Ivanka said Our Lady was joyful. I asked her to bless everyone, which she did. Our Lady talked to me about all the secrets. She invited us to pray for the families at this time and especially to pray for the sick. She called us to open our hearts and to thank her son for the grace he has given us. At the end, Our Lady thanked us for our prayers and love.

December 25, 1998 Annual apparition to Jakov
After the apparition which began at 11.50 a.m. and lasted 12 minutes, Jakov wrote:
Our Lady came joyful. She greeted me, as always, with ‘Praised be Jesus!’ She spoke to me about the secrets and afterwards gave me this message:
“Dear children, today, on the birthday of my Son, my heart is filled with immeasurable joy, love and peace. As your mother, I desire for each of you to feel that same joy, peace and love in the heart. That is why do not be afraid to open your heart and to completely surrender yourself to Jesus, because only in this way can he enter into your heart and fill it with love, peace and joy. I bless you with my motherly blessing.” (Jakov 12/25/1998)
Jakov prayed with his family. He prepared himself for the apparition with Confession and Holy Mass. After the apparition, he cried for a while.
