Confession

Many pilgrims go to Confession when they are in Medjugorje. That is why Medjugorje is known as the Confessional of the world.

There are 25 confessionals on either side of the church. Starting from around 5 p.m., one can see pilgrims lining up outside one or more of these confessionals. Each confessional has a sign on the outside, listing the languages that the priest understands. Sometimes the lines are very long, but the pilgrims are patient.

When there are huge numbers of pilgrims, chairs are set up just outside the church, and the priests will hear confessions there as well.
